The Challenge

Occasionally, especially with well-designed and simpler public works projects, including schools, a clear challenge isn't present. This project was straightforward and fit our scope of work nicely. If one item could be picked out as a challenge, it would be all of the wood integrated with our casework and countertops.

The Solution

The solution to the challenge was to ensure that our shop drawings showed intersection points of wood trim with casework and countertops. If the drawing sets are correct, the product is correct, and thus the installation is correct. The additional time spent towards providing a clean and high-quality set of drawings is imperative to the desired result in fit and finish.

The Results

Overall the result was positive, with the integration being successful. The solid White Maple trim is accentuated and highlighted by the contrasting colors of laminate at the reception desks and vibrant paint surrounding it. The solid wood was installed correctly and any deficiencies, while minor, were easily and quickly resolved.
