The Challenge
The unconventional finishes on this project was a different turn for us. Most of the time, clients prefer laminates and solid woods with stains. This project required us to use a sealed plywood as a finish, and ensuring that edges were treated correctly to guarantee longevity was critical. Plywood is usually a rough, unfinished product, so we were required to break all edges and remove any rough surfaces.
The Solution
Our solution to these issues was to pay greater attention to detail and really go over each individual part and edge to make sure there were no issues with finish or any roughness left over. Once we were able to focus more on the finish, it allowed us to really provide a consistent look across the project.
The Results
The ending result was an industrial, modern-look, with use of a rough product turned into a finish good. Although this was far from normal and not usually what we encounter clients requesting, the product turned out well. We are happy with how this came together and excited for the longevity these cabinets will provide to the client.
