First Interstate Center for the Arts

The Challenge

The largest challenge we faced on this project was the radiused Walnut wall paneling in the Music Room, which is pictured below. This was about 20 feet tall, on a concrete radius, attached with Z-Bar/Z-Clips. The same challenge was faced at the custom bar top paneling, associated wood trims, 3form bar top, and almost everywhere else in this particular room.

The Solution

Much like other projects with this type of installation, multiple trips were taken to the site to measure and calculate the radius of the walls we were installing product on top of. Then, templates were made to take to the site to confirm that our radii were matching what was on-site. In order to achieve the radiused veneer paneling, we had to use bender board to permit flexing of the finished veneer face, which need to match the radius.

The Results

The results were what one would expect of an opulent performing arts center: a high-end product matched with a high-end installation. Custom paneling, with sequence-matched veneer, a consistent finish, and complementing 3form and veneer all gave this space and project the attention it can command. Although this was not a simple, nor easy project, it is one of our best showcase projects to date.
