The Challenge
This project was very similar in scope to the ICCU Newport Highway project, and we encountered the same set of obstacles on this project that were on that project. Again, many trades depended upon our teller line die wall to be correct so their items would fit correctly in our die wall. We had more experience on this project understanding what it would take to get us to the finish line, but it was a challenge regardless, one we met with greater confidence.
Our Solution
Our understanding of what would be required helped us get ahead of what was coming, by laying out the die wall on the floor to check against any and all items that would be contained within our wall. The fit had to be perfect and without flaw. We spent hours going through this process with the superintendent to inform them that this is the correct way to make sure we all integrate the correct way and that the product turns out the way we all wanted. Yet again, we had one chance to get this correct, and once we had the dimensions and other relevant information, we set off to start fabrication.
The Results
We had some difficulties completing this project in the exact timeframe that was required. However, we ended up finishing strong and the owner can move in knowing what to expect from us: quality, proper fit and finish, and within design intent. This project will add to the portfolio of ever-growing trends and demands that the industry requires. We gladly accept any upcoming challenges that force us to adapt and improvise at a moment's notice.
